James "Jim" Steele Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Steele announce his passing at his home in Blind Bay, BC, March 16, 2024, with his wife at his side. He was 75 years old.

Jim was predeceased by his mother, Ellen Steele (Rogers) in 1993, his father, Clifford Steele in 1956.

He is survived by his wife Linda, and sons, Calvin (Kelsey), Lee (Miranda), and Cameron (Laura), his three grandchildren, Holden, Piper, and Peighton, and nephew Craig (Bridgette).

Born in Winnipeg on February 23, 1949, Jim met the love of his life, Linda, at the University of Winnipeg. Finishing with a double degree in Math and Chemistry. He then became a dedicated member of the RCMP for 35 years, travelling all over BC and Alberta; retiring as a superintendent to Blind Bay in 2007.

During his retirement, Jim and Linda enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, where Jim was an avid golfer and hiker. Jim was a man best known for getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible, and valued spending time with his family and friends. Jim’s greatest passions were photography, motorbikes, and woodworking, where he spent hours in his shop, allowing Linda hours of quilting time.

In his last year Linda was instrumental in supporting Jim to peacefully pass away in his own home.  Special thanks to Dr. Goldberg and the palliative care nurses for their wonderful care and support.

This summer there will be a small celebration of Jim’s life, where immediate family members will enjoy a hike and say their goodbyes.

We appreciate the outpouring of support the Family has received during this difficult time. It means a great deal to Linda, and us all.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim can be made to the Heart & Stroke foundation or a charity of your choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
